King Charles and Prince William set for major public showdown later this year

King Charles and Prince William are set for a major clash – and Prince Harry is nowhere in sight, an expert has pointed out.

Writing in News.com.au, Daniela Elser noted how there is set to be an overlap in two major events around November 7 that could see royal fans’ eyes torn in different directions.

In one will be the King’s first State Opening of Parliament, an event that was confirmed on Thursday night (July 20).

In the other direction will be Prince William and Kate Middleton’s trip to Singapore for the latest edition of the Earthshot Prize.

In bad news for the monarch, Daniela reckons the odds of the eyes of the world favouring his event are not looking good with the paparazzi and world media more likely to soak up the action from Singapore.

She wrote: “Ask yourself, if you were a newspaper or website editor, what picture would you want to use: a photo of Charles looking dead-serious and ruddy-faced while Camilla has that slightly glazed look in her eyes like she’s trying to remember if they cracked a window in the State Coach for their Jack Russells?

“Or a lovely shot of the prince and princess with the latter no doubt looking her usual marvellous, sparkly self?”

Daniela then added a question: “Crusty septuagenarians doing their jobs, or glam superstars taking a dazzling turn on the red carpet?

“Exactly.”

She noted that while neither party was to blame in this, only the “timetabling gods,” the moment would likely be “the latest instance of William getting one over his dear old dad”.
