New Data Study: Where In The World Are The Top Crypto-Friendly Cities?

MoveBuddha has released a compilation of data uncovering the top cities in the US and around the world with concentrations of bitcoin ATMs (bATMs) compared to city populations and GDP to uncover some new and unique data-focused insights. The study even includes a Twitter scrape of +100,000 users actively participating in #bitcoin and #crpyto -conversations.

Top cities that caught us by surprise:

  • Harrisburg, PA: This small city (population < 50K) has the most bATMs/10,000 residents.
  • Tbilisi, Georgia: With only 23 bATMs, Tbilisi is actually a major hub for crypto mining and is the number one city internationally for total # of bATMs/$10 Billion GDP.
  • London, UK: In the Twitter-sphere, London was the most cited home city of crypto enthusiasts, followed by NYC, LA, and San Fran.

It’s worth noting that a large portion of the Twitter users included a myriad of “locations” in their profiles, including “Cryptosphere” or even “Moon” as their location. This is likely a strong nod to the nomadic nature of many crypto-fans or even the simple fact that it is a currency that is not tied to a physical, traditional entity for trading purposes.
