Young girl is injured ‘after falling from a moving vehicle on to the A180 in Grimsby’

• The A180 near Grimsby has been closed westbound near Birchin Way after a children reportedly fell out of a black Kia while the car was travelling on the road
• The child, thought to be around three years old, was taken to hospital 
• Humberside Police have urged motorists to avoid the area while they investigate 

A section of a major road in northern England is closed this evening after a young child reportedly fell from a car. 

The A180, which runs from the M180 motorway to Cleethorpes, near Grimsby, is closed westbound near Birchin Way after the incident, which is thought to involve a black Kia. 

A passing motorists told Grimsby Live that he had seen a young child being cradled by an adult in the middle of the carriageway. 

A second eyewitness added that the child, thought to be around three years old, fell out of the side door of the vehicle, which is yet to be confirmed by authorities.

The incident happened at around 16:00 on Sunday (August 22) afternoon

Grismby Live reported that after the child was taken to hospital, Humberside Police carried out safety checks on the vehicle. 

They added that the driver, a man wearing a grey vest and shorts, was interviewed by officers. 

Police have closed the road a diversion has been set up via Moody Lane at the Westgate roundabout to deal with traffic in the area.

A tweet by Humberside Police read: ‘Emergency Services are currently dealing with an incident on the A180 at the Birchin Way roundabout and closures are currently in place.

‘Please avoid the area were possible.’
