The former aide to the Prime Minister took to Twitter to hint at another bombshell about to explode on Mr Johnson. He tweeted: “Will the CABSEC also be asked to investigate the *flat* party on Fri 13 Nov, the other flat parties, & the flat’s ‘bubble’ policy…?”
However, Mr Johnson has rejected any claims that there was a party held in November last year.
Asked during PMQs by Catherine West MP about “whether there was a party in Downing Street on November 13”, Mr Johnson responded: “No that never happened, but I am sure the guidance and the rules were followed at all times.”
This is the latest in a string of accusations that the Prime Minister breached Covid rules by attending parties in Downing Street last year.
According to the Mirror, Mr Johnson gave a speech at a packed leaving do for a top aide last November when the country was in the grip of its second lockdown.
One source told the Mirror there were “many social gatherings” in Downing Street last year while the public faced restrictions.
They even suggested there were “always parties” in the flat Mr Johnson shares with his wife, adding: “Carrie’s addicted to them”.
There were also claims of a third, smaller gathering on November 13, the night Mr Cummings walked out of No 10, “where they were all getting totally plastered”.
Another source claimed: “While senior civil servants were urging caution and there was one message to the public, Prime Minister gave the impression that it could be very relaxed in No 10.
“He would either turn a blind eye or on some occasions attend himself while everyone else was in lockdown.”
The Prime Minister is facing a PR disaster over their alleged Christmas do last year and has faced calls to resign.
At the time, London was subject to tier 2 restrictions, which imposed a ban on social mixing between households.
No 10 initially did not say the reports were inaccurate but said all rules had been followed, before later denying any party had taken place.
The Tory MP text ITV’s Paul Brand: “I’m tired of it. He has to go. Clean sweep. It’s unsustainable.”
The SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford also called on Mr Johnson to resign.
He said: “This video is damning and leaves the Prime Minister with a lot to answer for.
“When every individual up and down the country was told to stay at home in order to protect the NHS, the Tories were instead having a Christmas party which, as a senior staff member has now confirmed, was ‘not socially distanced’.
“If this is true, then the Prime Minister’s position is untenable and he must remove himself from office immediately.”
A senior Tory figure has reportedly said there must be resignations inside Number 10 following leaked footage of Downing Street.
Footage shared by ITV was recorded on December 22 in preparation for Downing Street’s proposed daily media briefings.
Minister’s adviser Ed Oldfield: “I’ve just seen reports on Twitter that there was a Downing Street Christmas party on Friday night, do you recognise those reports.”
Ms Stratton, a former BBC and ITV journalist, replied: “I went home.”
After Ms Stratton appeared lost for words, Mr Oldfield added: “Would the Prime Minister condone having a Christmas party.”
“What’s the answer?”, a seemingly thrown off Stratton replied.
Ms Stratton concluded the clip by acknowledging the rehearsal was being recorded and then by saying: “This fictional party was a business meeting and it was not socially distanced.”
