Teen girl left with horror injuries on mouth and arm after savage dog mauling
A teenager has been badly injured and left with horror injuries to her mouth and arm after a brutal dog attack outside her home.
Faith Irwin, 16, was rushed to hospital for treatment after being mauled by the hound, which sunk its teeth into her mouth and arm.
Irwin admitted to still getting nightmares from the ferocious attack, which has left the poor teenager traumatised.
She added that she has found it difficult to eat after suffering injuries to her mouth during the dog's vicious attack, which took place in Lanarkshire, Scotland.
But Irwin and frustrated mum Lorraine Irwin say they have yet to feel any justice following the attack.
They both say they have been passed over after neither the dog or its owner have been reprimanded for the attack, despite police conducting an ongoing investigation.
Speaking to Lanarkshire Live, the teenager said: "It was really scary. I want something done about it. When I walk past the house where the dog stays, I walk on the different side of the street and everything now.
"I was shocked because I was not expecting the dog to do that. I'm so used to the dog just jumping up for a cuddle or clap."
New cars could be forced to include alcohol sensors to stop you drinking and driving
The shocked teen continued: "It's left me with injuries I'm still suffering from now. When I eat anything now it still hurts. I want something done about it, but I feel like the police have let me down."
Distraught mum Lorraine agreed, saying: "I've been told it's with the dog warden and then the police but we can never get a hold of the officer in charge of the case or nothing.
"She's been out on strong antibiotics in order to stop infection. She couldn't eat for a while, and she still now suffers from nightmares. We just want there to be consequences."
Police have confirmed they are still looking into the incident, with a spokesman saying "enquiries into the incident are ongoing".
