Couple flogging £3m Grand Designs-style mansion just months after lottery win

A couple who won a luxury mansion in a lottery called it a "piece of paradise" – but have put it on the market just two months after bagging the win.

Uttam Parmar and his wife Raki, from Ashby, Leicestershire, won the £3m Grand Designs-style property named The Waterhouse back in August of this year after getting lucky in an Omaze draw.

Speaking of the win at the time, Uttam said: "When Omaze called to tell us we’d won a prize, we were actually at the hospital. We were so excited that we might have won the grand prize.

"We called our son Aaron to see if the winning entry code matched ours.

"When he triple-checked, the numbers matched. We must’ve burst his eardrums screaming down the phone!"

He added he considered himself a lucky person and had won smaller items such as a TV and a coffee table before.

"I never dreamed I’d win anything as extravagant as a £3million house," he added.

The Waterhouse in the Cornish countryside is located in “one of the most desirable parts of the country”, estate agents claim, and blends "perfectly" into the surrounding landscape which features nearby beaches and stunning vistas, LeicestershireLive reports.

The property looks out onto the Camel Estuary and boasts panoramic views of the stunning river as well as four en suite bedrooms, five acres of land and state-of-the-art open-plan kitchen and living spaces.

It even has a dedicated surf wet room.

Omaze told the family at the time of the win that they could sell the house on if they wished, or rent it out for an eye-watering fee of about £15,000 a month.

And just months after they first bagged the win, the Parmars have chosen to give up the home and have listed it for sale, with prospective buyers being asked to make "offers over £4million".

The news may come as a surprise for those of us who dream of a countryside escape – but as soon as they scooped up the incredible win, the Parmars were already unsure whether they would keep the house.

“We’ve holidayed in Cornwall over the years and always thought it would be incredible to have a place here," Uttam explained at the time.

"We’re not sure if we’ll rent, sell or live in it yet – it’s the best dilemma we’ve ever had!

"Whatever we decide, it’s a life changing win for the whole family.”
