Crypto-exchange Gemini Expands Services To Colombia
Gemini, a New York-based crypto-exchange and custodian owned by Internet entrepreneur twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has partnered Bancolombia to expand its cryptocurrency trading services to Colombia as part of its Latin American expansion.
Under the partnership, Gemini will initially offer crypto trading services to Bancolombia customers from December 14. It will offer a seamless on- and off-ramp to trade bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) through the Gemini exchange.
The partnership is part of a one-year pilot program run by Colombia’s financial regulator, the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (SFC), and will offer users seamless and secure access to cryptocurrencies.
Gemini noted that it looks forward to working closely with the Colombian crypto ecosystem and to supporting crypto products that empower Colombians to take control of their financial lives.
The company added that it believes crypto can play an important role in the development of Latin America as interest in blockchain and innovative technologies proliferates throughout the region.
Gemini offers crypto services and infrastructure to a growing number of financial institutions and asset managers across the world through Gemini Custody, Gemini Fund Solutions, and custom integrations with registered investment advisors and FinTech platforms.
Gemini is a New York trust company and qualified custodian regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services. Gemini is already available in more the 60 countries, including Latin American countries such as Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Peru, El Salvador, Panama and Uruguay.
