Cboe Global Markets Posts a Jump in Futures ADV during July 2021
Cboe Global Markets, a prominent global market operator and trading solutions provider, released its latest trading volume statistics for July 2021. The provider of global market infrastructure saw a jump of 56% (YoY) in the Futures ADV during July 2021.
According to the numbers, S&P 500 Index (SPX) options had the highest monthly average daily volume for the year. On average, approximately 1.4 million contracts were traded per day in July 2021. Cboe Global Markets saw a jump of nearly 45% (YoY) in Index Options ADV. On the other hand, European Equities ADNV increased by 22%.
“Cboe iBoxx iShares High Yield Corporate Bond Index (IBHY) futures reached an all-time monthly high and surpassed $5 billion in notional value traded for the first time; 39,919 total contracts were traded during July, representing a total notional value of $5.9 billion. Total volume in Russell 2000 Index (RUT) options reached nearly 1.2 million contracts traded in July, with 56,054 contracts traded on average per day, the highest month on record since October 2018,” Cboe mentioned.
In July 2021, Cboe Global Markets released its financial results for the second quarter of 2021. The operator posted net revenue of $351 million in Q2 2021. Operating income for the latest quarter touched $190 million, compared to $161.7 million in Q2 of 2020.
Strong Growth
Cboe Global Markets has seen a consistent rise in volumes since the start of 2021. The Futures ADV in April 2021 jumped by 70%. “S&P 500 Index (SPX) options had highest monthly average daily volume for the year, with nearly 1.4 million contracts traded on average per day in July. Average daily notional value in Non-Deliverable Forwards (NDFs) transacted on Cboe SEF reached $369 million during July, the fourth consecutive record month,” Cboe added in the latest announcement.
In June 2021, Cboe Global Markets completed the acquisition of Asian firm Chi-X Asia Pacific Holdings. Cboe Global Markets is planning to establish a significant presence in the Asia Pacific region through the latest acquisition.
