Bridgen expected to be unveiled as Laurence Fox’s first Reclaim MP tomorrow

Nevena Bridgen on ‘racism’ behind-the-scenes in Westminster

Andrew Bridgen is expected to announce tomorrow morning that he will become Reclaim’s first Member of parliament after he was expelled from the Tories last month over his criticisms of the covid vaccine rollout programme. The Reclaim Party led by Laurence Fox has called a press conference for 9.30am for tomorrow and have known to have been in talks with Mr Bridgen.

Both Mr Bridgen and Reclaim have been been unavailable for comment ahead of tomorrow morning’s big event, however, a source has told Express.co.uk that “there will be two very significant announcements.”

Express.co.uk revealed last month that Mr Bridgen had been in talks with Reclaim and was expected to join after the local elections if his bid to remain in the Conservative Party failed.

Mr Bridgen’s expulsion was confirmed because someone else within the Conservative Party leaked the initial decision to expel him which meant that he was not allowed to proceed with an appeal.

However, the North West Leicestershire MP, who was one of the Brexit spartans to oppose Theresa May’s compromise deals, has been rapidly opening up a gulf between himself and the Tory leadership over Covid.

Mr Bridgen has been vocal on his criticism of the mRNA vaccine which he claims is killing people.

Critics have accused Mr Bridgen of being “a conspiracy theorist” but he has received support from all around the world including potential Presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The final straw came for Rishi Sunak when he Tweeted a quote from an Israeli academic that the vaccine rollout was the worst crime against humanity since the Holocaust.

He was immediately suspended from the party with former Health Secretary Matt Hancock claiming the Tweet was “anti-semitic”.

However, Mr Bridgen was supported by a group of Jewish academics whose letter to the Prime Minister was never acknowledged.

The backing did not save Mr Bridgen who was expelled from the Tories ahead of the local elections.

Mr Bridgen has in the past been approached by the Brexit Party but publicly fell out with Richard Tice, the leader of Reform UK (the replacement for Brexit Party) over the vaccines issue.

Instead, Mr Fox has been pushing questions on the vaccine, trans issues and free speech with Reclaim.

Mr Bridgen, 58, was elected in North West Leicestershire in 2010 taking a previously safe Labour seat which he turned into a safe Conservative seat with a majority on the council.

After Mr Bridgen was cast out of the party the Tories had one of their worst results in North West Leicestershire losing 10 seats with Labour regaining control.

There is further bad news coming with Mr Bridgen’s opera singer wife Nevena planning on writing a book on her time as a Tory MP’s wife threatening to expose racism and abuse in the party.

It is unclear whether Mr Bridgen would call a byelection if it is confirmed he has switched parties.
