The Home Secretary is in Washington DC for meetings with counterparts from Joe Biden’s administration to boost intelligence sharing.
Ms Patel said they must find ways to tackle the constantly shifting threats. She added: “We have seen the impact of those who seek to undermine our values and way of life, underlining the need for close cooperation between allies as we ensure safety and security for all.
“The transatlantic partnership is built on this shared commitment. Our law enforcement and intelligence agencies continue to work closely together. We must ensure they have all the tools they require.”

Ms Patel is meeting Secretary for Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas in her first visit since 2019, The Home Secretary is also pushing for tougher action to crack down on social media companies that encrypt their systems, allowing criminals to operate without data being accessed, saying they have a “moral duty”.
Five projects have been given £85,000 each from the UK’s Safety Tech Challenge Fund to encourage the industry to help find solutions.
