Trump’s Comments Anti-Semitic And Insulting To Jews, Israel: White House

The controversial comments that former President Donald Trump made at the weekend about American Jews were anti-Semitic and insulting both to Jews and to Israel, the White House said.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was responding to Trump’s post on his Truth Social website Sunday, which says, “U.S. Jews have to get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — before it is too late!”

“No President has done more for Israel than I have….Our wonderful Evangelicals are far more appreciative of this than the people of the Jewish faith, especially those living in the U.S.,” he added.

“Donald Trump’s comments were anti-Semitic, as you all know, and insulting both to Jews and to our Israeli allies,” Jean-Pierre said at a White House news conference Monday. “But let’s be clear: For years — for years now, Donald Trump has aligned with extremist and anti-Semitic figures. And it should be called out”, she told reporters.

She stressed the need to root out antisemitism everywhere.

“With respect to Israel, our relationship is ironclad and it’s rooted in shared values and interests. Donald Trump clearly doesn’t understand that either”, she added.

Later in the news conference, the White House spokesperson was asked about rapper Ye’s move to buy the conservative social media platform, Parler.

He was kicked out of Twitter and Instagram last week over a set of anti-Semitic comments he made on those social media platforms.

Jean-Pierre replied that antisemitism is hateful and dangerous. “And we are going to continue to condemn that type of language, because at the end of the day, it is disgusting and there is absolutely no room, no place in our political discourse to be having that type of, really, vile conversation or comments being made,” she added.

Formerly known as Kanye West, Ye has entered into an agreement with Parlement Technologies to buy Parler later this year.
