10 beer festivals to sample in Colorado this summer and fall — The Know

Denver’s Great American Beer Festival may have canceled its public-facing event for 2021 due to concerns about COVID-19, but local drinkers still have plenty of options when it comes to imbibing festival-style.

Here are 10 beer events where you can wet your whistle this summer and fall.

Winter Park Resort Beer and Spirits Fest, July 24

If you’re looking for an escape to the mountains, consider the Winter Park Resort Beer and Spirits Fest, where more than 20 Colorado beverage purveyors will be pouring samples at 9,000 feet to the tune of local bluegrass bands. Heck, you could probably squeeze in a morning hike before heading down to the resort’s base for the event at 1 p.m.

1-5 p.m. July 24 at Winter Park Resort, 85 Parsenn Road, Winter Park. $35 via Eventbrite. 

Belleview Station Beer Fest, Aug. 14

Dress in your best ’80s getup and head to the Belleview Station Beer Garden at Denver Tech Center for a beer festival and dance party complete with theme-specific music and a costume contest. More than 30 breweries are expected to be sampling suds to pair with lawn games and grub from food trucks.

3-7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Belleview Station Beer Garden, 6785 E. Chenango Ave., Denver. $35-$45 via Eventbrite. 

Vail Valley Brew’Au, Aug. 21

The town of Avon is bringing a beachfront vibe to landlocked Colorado with the luau-inspired Vail Valley Brew-Au. This kid-friendly event features bottomless samples of beer alongside sandcastle sculpting, live music and more. The event is also a fundraiser for Vail Valley Charitable Fund, which helps families experiencing financial hardship from medical emergencies or long-term illness.

1-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at Avon Performance Pavilion at Harry A. Nottingham Park, 1 Lake St., Avon. $20-$45 via Eventbrite. 

Brew Fest at Coors Field, Aug. 21

When you buy tickets to see the Colorado Rockies play the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 21, you’ll be able to attend something of a tailgate inside the ballpark where 20 regional breweries will be serving samples. Tickets include six drink tickets for small pours plus a commemorative cup. Vote for your favorite and it could earn a tap at the ballpark during the 2022 season. All the fun happens before the first pitch.

4-7 p.m. Aug. 21 (first pitch at 6:10 p.m.) at Coors Field, 2001 Blake St., Denver. $35-$65 via Ticketmaster. 

RiNo Beer Fest, Aug. 28

Denver’s RiNo neighborhood will have a serious case of Saturday Night Fever when this beer festival rolls in, complete with a disco theme. Break out the platforms and bell bottoms to partake in a costume contest and expect the music to keep you grooving all afternoon while you sample libations from more than 30 breweries.

3-7 p.m. Aug. 28 near the Ramble Hotel, 2424 Larimer St., Denver. $35-$45 via Eventbrite. 

Denver Rare Beer Tasting, Sept. 9

At least one piece of the GABF experience will take place in 2021: The Denver Rare Beer Tasting. The event, hosted by the Colorado Brewers Guild and nonprofit Pints for Prostates, features more than 60 of the country’s most esteemed breweries pouring specialty recipes and rare vintages for an exclusive tasting. There will also be free men’s health screenings and an online silent auction. Proof of COVID-19 vaccine or a negative COVID-19 test are required for entry.

1-5 p.m. Sept. 9 at McNichols Civic Center Building, 144 W. Colfax Ave., Denver. $125 via Universe.com. 

Park Hill Beer Fest, Sept. 18

Rock and roll will never die, at least not at this themed beer festival in Denver’s Park Hill neighborhood. More than 30 breweries will sample beers to the tune of classic rock hits from a live DJ. Expect food trucks, lawn games, a costume contest and more.

3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Oneida Park, 2225 Oneida St., Denver. $35-$45 via Eventbrite. 

Colorado Brewers Rendezvous, Oct. 1-2

Expect a double-dose of beer festivities at the Colorado Brewers Rendezvous, which returns to Salida for its 25th year. Oct. 1 marks a “pre-vous” at the SteamPlant Event Center, where drinkers can try specialty beers available only that night. On Oct. 2, more than 20 breweries will convene at Riverside Park for an open-air soiree against the backdrop of the Collegiate Peaks.

6-8:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the SteamPlant Event Center, 220 W. Sackett Ave., Salida. $40 via Eventbrite; and 1-5 p.m. Oct. 2 at Riverside Park, 110 Sackett Ave., Salida. $15-$110 via Eventbrite. 

Sloan’s Lake Beer Fest, Oct. 2

Viva the ’90s at the Sloan’s Lake Beer Fest, which will be inspired by the decade preceding the Millennium, from the music to the encouraged dress. More than 30 breweries, food trucks, a DJ and more will be set up at Sloan’s Lake for the event, which also features lawn games, a pretzel necklace-making station and a costume contest.

3-7 p.m. Oct. 2 at Sloan’s Lake, 1565 N. Raleigh St., Denver. $35-$45 via Eventbrite.

San Juan Barrel Fest, Oct. 9

Head west to the San Juans Mountains for a beer event that’s also a fundraiser to support Ridgway’s art scene. The San Juan Barrel Fest tasks brewers, cider makers and vintners from the Western Slope to create something special to pour at Hartwell Park in downtown Ridgway. The fest serves as the finale to the Ridgway 1K race, but you don’t have to run to attend. Proceeds benefit the Sherbino theater.
