A group of roughly 100 people dressed as Boris Johnson were spotted downing beer and wine outside Downing Street yesterday, mocking the Prime Minister over the recent 'partygate' row.
Complete with suits, ties, wigs, Union Jack flags and Boris masks, the pranksters chanted "my name is Boris" and "this is a work event" whist dancing to music coming from a portable speaker.
The gag was seemingly organised by YouTuber and podcast host Jack Dean, better known online as JaackMaate.
He tweeted photos of the look-a-likes alongside the caption: "We hired 100 Boris Johnsons and threw a party outside Downing Street… Main channel is BACK early next week."
In one of the images, Jack and singer Alfie Indra – who often appears on the YouTuber's podcast Happy Hour – are seen being spoken to by two police officers.
In another, the Boris army appeared to have moved their protest to Trafalgar Square, where they continued to drink and sing.
Jack also shared the news on Instagram, where people were quick to react to the hilarious gag.
Former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison commented "this was YOU?!!!" followed by some laughing-crying emojis.
Singer Tom Grennan simply replied: "Ledge."
"Hired? I would’ve done that sh*t for free," joked a fan of the YouTuber.
Someone else wrote on Twitter: "I work in Westminster and walked past this today and can safely say it wasn't even in the top 5 absurd things that have happened this week, which says a lot…"
The prank came as Number 10 issued an apology to the Queen following the latest allegations of rule-breaking partying during the pandemic.
Recent claims suggested that a party took place at Downing Street on April 16 last year, the day before Prince Philip's funeral.
Number 10 said: "It's deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning and Number 10 has apologised to the Palace.
"You heard from the PM this week, he's recognised No 10 should be held to the highest standards and take responsibility for things we did not get right."
