British tourist dies after plunging from balcony at party resort

A 35-year-old British tourist has died after plummeting from his balcony in an Ibizan party resort. The man died in San Antonio in the early hours of this morning, the Civil Guard has confirmed.

The emergency services were alerted just after 3.15am about an unconscious man lying on the ground on Molí Street, below an apartment block near a British supermarket and a short walk from the seafront. An investigation has now been launched with authorities saying the man was on a second-floor balcony when he fell over the edge.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead upon their arrival, reported Spanish publication SER.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: “I can confirm a 35-year-old British man died in San Antonio.

“The circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.”

The incident comes two weeks after another British man staying in the same resort fell to his death. Amateur footballer John McKenna, 22, from Carlisle in Cumbria, was pronounced dead on the scene after plunging from his three-star hotel.

At the time his friend and former footballer, Carlisle United player Josh Dixon, said: “Absolutely heartbroken writing this. One of my closest mates all the way through school.

“Wherever you went you would put a smile on someone’s face. Will be a huge miss to us all. Rest easy big man.”
