Cruel woman throws ex-boyfriend’s cat in river in fit of rage during argument

A crazed ex-girlfriend tossed her former boyfriend’s cat into a river during a fit of rage.

Christa Anne Thistle was fuming that her old partner wasn’t moving his possessions out of their RV, in Oak Hill, Florida, quickly enough.

The furious 53-year-old knocked over some food that was being cooked, picked up the pet crate and threw the poor feline into the river.

Its shocked owner raced into the water to rescue his fluffy friend, who was underwater for around 20 seconds, reports WFTV.

The cat – called Stanley – was wet and shaking with cold when cops arrived, but made a full recovery.

Stanley has been taken in by the County of Volusia Animal Services who are giving him aftercare and checking he is still healthy.

Despite cops arriving at the scene to find an angry Christa, a soaking wet cat and a man dripping with water from jumping in the river, Christa denies having any involvement.

In body cam footage shared by the police, she protests: “Who would want to throw a cat in the river?”

A deputy handcuffing her can be heard saying: “If you’re going to throw a cat in a river, you’re going to go to jail” as he arrested Christa on a felony charge of cruelty to animals.

In Florida, any individual who "unnecessarily torments any animal, or causes the same to be done to any animal in a cruel or inhumane manner, commits animal cruelty."

It is an offence punishable under the Florida statute as a first degree misdemeanor – and those who are found guilty can be fined up to $5,000.

Deputies also charged Christa with simple assault “after she demanded to be taken to jail so she could make a phone call, bond out and kill her ex-boyfriend.”

She remained in jail without bond on Friday afternoon, jail records showed.

Stanley isn't the only cat who had a dice with death recently.

Last month, a feline in Canada who disappeared turned up at his owner's house an incredible 13 years after he first went missing, after living in the street for over a decade.
