Curtis 'Cocky' Warren, the Liverpool drug lord who was today (July 5) arrested for suspected breaches of the terms of a Serious Crime Prevention Order, was found at the home of former prison officer Stephanie Smithwhite.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the 6am National Crime Agency (NCA) raid, along with local police units, took place at Smithwhite's home in Boldon Colliery, South Tyneside.

Warren was arrested on suspicion of alleged breaches that the NCA says “relate to the unauthorised use of mobile phones, vehicles, bank accounts and travel”.

An NCA spokesperson has since confirmed last night that "a 60-year-old from Liverpool was bailed pending further enquiries".

Smithwhite was jailed after becoming "infatuated" with Warren while she was working at the high security HMP Frankland near Durham. She even got a tattoo of the name "Curtis" next to a rose.

A court heard that the prison officer and the notorious gangster indulged in sexual activity and kissing during liaisons in his cell, in the kitchen and a laundry room at the jail, which houses some of the country's most dangerous criminals.

When the affair was discovered, officers found more than 450 letters between the pair, most of them containing "sexually explicit” fantasies, along with photos that Smithwhite sent Warren of herself wearing a catsuit.

Smithwhite denied that a hole she had cut in the trousers of her prison uniform was for a sexual purpose, but the sentencing judge said it was "hard to imagine what else it could have been used for".

At her trial, Smithwhite’s lawyer told the court that she had made a "catastrophic error of judgment, which is unprecedented in her life".

He added: "This is a woman who has fallen in love with the wrong person."

It was the second affair that Warren is known to have enjoyed inside.

He carried on a two-year affair inside Jersey's La Moye prison with drugs counsellor Teresa Rodrigues.

“We had sex in his little cell most days,” Rodrigues confessed. “Yes, it was insane but I was in love like never before, and I still am.

“There were butterflies, feelings of intense excitement. I know what Curtis is, who he is, but love overrode everything”.

Rodrigues said that Warren had never tried drugs or alcohol, so he didn’t need counselling, but they still ended up spending a lot of time together: “He was very polite and very charismatic.

“I was attracted to him from the start. I was developing these strong feelings. I felt silly and stupid”.
