A dad has tragically died after being pulled out by a rip ride at a beach.
The 55-year-old victim was swimming at Reighton Gap, near Filey in Yorkshire, on Thursday, July 22.
Two other teenagers managed to make it back to shore and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The RNLI rescued the man, but he was tragically pronounced dead, Hull Live reports.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We were called by the coastguard at about 2.45pm on Thursday to a report of people in difficulty in the sea at Reighton.
“A 55-year-old man was rescued by the RNLI but was sadly later pronounced dead. Two teenagers were taken to hospital for treatment. Inquiries are ongoing.”
A Coastguard spokesman added: “At approximately 2pm on Thursday we received multiple 999 calls from members of the public concerned about three people in distress in the water at Reighton Beach, near Flamborough Headland.
“Filey and Bridlington coastguard rescue teams, Filey RNLI, senior officers and the search and rescue helicopter from Humberside were sent alongside the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and North Yorkshire Police.
“Two people made it back to shore by themselves while the third person was recovered to shore by the lifeboat, before all three were transported to hospital.”
Earlier this week, a young man died in another tragedy after getting into difficulty in the sea.
Emergency services were dispatched to Crosby Beach, near Liverpool, at around 7.10pm on Tuesday, July 20.
Hamza Mansoor, 22, died and another of his friends is in a critical condition in hospital.
Mohammad Naseer Raja, a family friend, told the Liverpool Echo: "Hamza went to Crosby to swim with some friends.
"I have been told a few of them got into trouble while swimming, and had to be pulled from the water.
"Hamza died and one of his friends is still very ill in hospital."
Mr Mansoor, from Stoke, was a student at Staffordshire University.
His funeral has already taken place at a mosque in Stoke and his body has since been flown to Pakistan for the burial in Rawalpindi.
