Exact day high pressure to catapult mercury to sizzling 17C
Met Office shares week ahead weather
Britons hoping to spend the Easter weekend outdoors won’t be needing their umbrellas as forecasters have predicted a mostly dry and mild upcoming few days with highs of 17C in London areas. However, by Monday rainy weather is set to return with downpours expected across the country.
Netweather forecaster Terry Scholey has said “west is best” as western parts of the country will enjoy the most sun over the upcoming days and the highest temperatures.
Friday is expected to be sunny for most, while Saturday may be overcast in some areas despite the warmer temperatures.
Easter Sunday is expected to be the warmest day and best for outdoor activities as forecasters have predicted “lots of sunshine for most after a chilly start in the south”.
Mr Scholey predicted: “Perhaps a few showers over Northern Ireland later as an Atlantic system approaches. Top temperatures of 14 to 17C, with less risk of a frost in the mostly dry night.”
The forecaster went on to add that the weekend is set to bring balmy weather, despite being cloudy at times.
The forecaster wrote: “It should be reasonable enough for the many outdoor activities this coming Easter despite a lot of cloud at times.
“Apart from a scattering of showers in the east on Good Friday, it should be dry for the many football matches up and down the country.
“The best day for the coast looks to be Sunday, when you’ll see the best sunshine on offer and perhaps also in the east for a time on Bank Holiday Monday.”
While temperatures are expected to skyrocket during the day, overnight it will be much chillier and could drop to freezing in Wales, according to weather maps.
This means some areas run the risk of overnight frost, making morning commutes tricky.

However, by Monday soggy weather makes an unpleasant return, despite temperatures remaining around 15C in the southeast and London areas.
David Oliver, a Met Office Deputy Chief forecaster, said: “Similar conditions are likely for much of the UK on Easter Saturday, but during the second half of the Easter weekend the Atlantic will increasingly exert its influence.
“A frontal system is expected to move in from the west and displace the high pressure lying across the UK.
“This will spread rain across all areas during the latter part of Easter Sunday and through Easter Monday, although there is some uncertainty regarding its exact timing.
“Once the rain clears blustery showers are likely to follow in its wake across many areas.”
