An angry internet user appears to have done the impossible and mapped out the divide between England’s north, south and midlands.
With a no-nonsense caption, Reddit user u/AncestralSeeker posted to the CasualUK page a map of English counties with hand-drawn lines marking what they felt were the true borders.
“I won’t be debated on this”, they said sternly.

And, to their credit, they haven't really been as Brits have rolled over in a passive acceptance that this probably is as good a job as anyone could do to settle the age-old debate.
The north-midlands–south row has been going on for decades, with everyone owning a slightly different view to people they meet from different parts of the country.
For years, people who identify as northerners have been labelled midlanders by people higher up in the northern counties.
The same tussles have been going on in the south too, with wannabe midlanders and southerners being told the opposite of their own belief by one another.
The post has gained a wide consensus and, shockingly, it seems this is as good as it's going to get.
The moderator of CasualUK, u/26326312 who claims to be the ‘tourism director for the east midlands’, gave an official stamp of approval for the Redditor's work.

They said: “You've done it. You've cracked it. Job well done, pal.
“The general consensus is that this is correct. The age-old question of north/south divide answered in one simple image. Jolly good show. Eeee it'll all be reyt. Now then me ode meart.
“Anyway, as tourism director for the east midlands, I'd like to congratulate OP on posting one of these that people have actually mostly agreed on.”
They added: “I've been coming to this sub for years seeing people getting all wound up about where is north/mid/south and it's caused too much chaos and division for too long.
“So three cheers for OP and please accept this gift basket filled with Cornish Pasties, Haslet and Henderson's Relish that really showcases the best cuisine each region has to offer.”
In true British style, other users on the page were – without getting too excited or over the top – congratulatory.
“Yep fine seems OK to me have a house point”, said dazednowconfused.
“Can't argue with that, looks reasonable to me”, said Zolana.
CastleBG offered up the acceptance of Yorkshire: “As a Yorkshireman, I agree with this, currently live near Newcastle where people think the north starts at Middlesbrough which I find strange.”
A representative of the Midlands, Ctimmins3, chimed in adding: “As a midlander, finally glad someone has put it down on paper. Well done sir.”
