Hamas commander and family killed by devastating Israeli airstrike on his house

A key Hamas commander has been assassinated in an Israeli airstrike in the latest devastating blow to the terrorist group.

Jehad Mheisen, one of the leaders of Hamas’s security forces, has been killed along with his family at his home in Gaza City.

Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have also killed a Hamas political leader, the terrorist organization said on Hamas radio.

Jamila Abdallah Taha al-Shanti, 68, was a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council and the first woman in the political bureau of Hamas.

She was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in the early hours this morning. Israeli media cited Hamas radio confirming her death.

Her husband, Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, was a founding member and Hamas leader. He was killed by Israel’s Air Force in 2004 by a hellfire missile strike.

The IDF struck a series of targets overnight, according to reports, including a precision strike that siped out 10 Hamas terrorists including the head of the military branch of the Popular Resistance Committees.

The Twitter account Israel War Room posted: “Fighter jets struck and eliminated Rafat Harb Hussein Abu Hilal, the head of the military branch of the Popular Resistance Committees in Rafah.”

The latest blows for Hamas comes days after another top commander for the terrorist group was killed in another Israeli strike.

Ayman Nofal in charge of the Central Gaza area in the armed wing Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, had been the most high-profile and well-known Hamas militant to have been killed in the ongoing conflict.

The top commander’s death came hours after the Israeli Defence Forces said it had killed senior Hamas official Dr Osama Mazini.

Israel has launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza following the barbaric Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 that killed more than 1,300 Israelis.

Palestinian authorities believe some 2,800 people have been killed in Gaza since the fighting began nearly two weeks ago, with at least another 1,200 missing.
