Man suspected of stabbing wife in Highlands Ranch arrested in Kansas
A man suspected of stabbing his wife in the parking lot of a Highlands Ranch Target store was arrested in Kansas early Sunday morning, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office.
Michael Sharpe, 41, was arrested near Lawrence, Kansas, by Kansas State Patrol troopers, according to a news release. The city is about a nine-hour drive from Highlands Ranch, close to the Kansas-Missouri border.
Sharpe is suspected of stabbing his wife and then stealing her car Saturday around 12:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a Target store at 1950 E. County Line Road.
His wife called 911 to report the stabbing and was taken to a hospital for treatment. She was “alert and talking to first responders,” the sheriff’s office said.
Sharpe will be charged with first-degree assault and domestic violence, according to the sheriff’s office.
