‘Matchmaker’ Yorkshire Ripper introduced Milly Dowler killer to fiancée
Twisted Levi Bellfield, who abducted and murdered 13-year-old Milly Dowler, was introduced to his new fiancée by the Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe.
The depraved 53-year-old allegedly got down on one knee in front of shocked prison staff, placed a ring on his lover's finger and popped the question – to which she accepted.
He is currently serving a whole-life sentence having been found guilty of killing Dowler, 13, Marsha McDonnell, 19, Amélie Delagrange, 22, and attempting to kill Kate Sheedy, 18 at the time.
According to The Sun, Bellfield has contacted a solicitor to facilitate the marriage from within HMP Frankland in County Durham.
The same title report that Bellfield first saw the woman in a picture on notorious killer Sutcliffe's cell wall, before asking for permission to write to her.
A source confirmed to The Sun: “What people don’t realise is that the woman was friends with Sutcliffe for years before he died, although there was no romance between them.
“She had written to Sutcliffe to ask about his case.
“But Bellfield actually asked his permission to write to the woman about a year before Sutcliffe died. Sutcliffe agreed — so was an unwitting matchmaker.”

Sutcliffe, who killed 13 women and died in 2020, shared a wing at Frankland jail, Co Durham, where he proposed when the blonde in her 40s came to visit.
The source added: “Bellfield helped him with food and keeping his cell tidy then took the opportunity to ask about his visitor.
“He knew about their friendship and was a bit jealous.
“He then started turning on the charm — and remarkably she fell for it.

“Then this happens. He and his fiancée know all about the reaction to the story but are insistent it will go ahead.”
Bellfield applied under the Human Rights Act to marry, but PM Boris Johnson said he is "sickened and appalled" by the news.
Prisons minister Victoria Atkins has vowed to do "everything in her power" to stop it.
Bellfield's ex, Joe Collings, who was badly abused during her three-year relationship with him, said: "He’s a monster who has ruined countless people’s lives, and he’s ruined mine too."
