Met Office warns Brits to brace for weekend washout despite 30C temperatures
High temperatures will be accompanied by thundery showers this weekend with the mercury potentially touching 30C in parts of the UK.
Forecasters expect thunder and lightning to strike on Saturday afternoon (June 10).
While the rain may be a relief to some after several weeks of hot, dry weather, the thunder could spoil what is set to be the hottest weekend of the year so far.

Rain is also expected on Sunday (June 11), along with thundery conditions.
The Met Office's Nicola Maxey told the Daily Express: "We will see a transition in the weather for the UK from late on Friday for those in the south-west, with warm air from the south increasing the chances of some thundery showers in parts of Devon and Cornwall.
"The risk of thundery outbreaks increases and spreads further north and east through the weekend, with the possibility of hail and gusty winds possible in some places.
"Temperatures will also rise as a plume of warm air is drawn in from the south.
“Temperatures over the weekend could peak around 30C in some parts of England and remain well above average during night-times."
The Met Office has also warned that there could be "localised impacts and disruption" this weekend as weather conditions change.
Ms Maxey added: "The likelihood potential for heavy and thundery showers, could bring some localised impacts and disruption in the far south-west from as early as late Friday, but more widely into the weekend, though it is not possible to be definitive about exact details this far from the potential event."
The Met Office said it expects the hottest temperatures of the year so far to be reached by the weekend.
The threshold for a heatwave is three successive days of high temperatures in excess of 25C.
Saturday will likely be the warmest day, with temperatures possibly hitting 30C in and around London.
Simon Partridge, forecaster for the Met Office, said: "It will get warmer but there may well be more cloud with heavy, thundery showers mixed in as well.
"There will still be plenty of sunshine around, but it will come with much muggier nights.
"We continue with showers on Sunday and Monday and it will turn a little bit cooler again."
