Pet cam shows dog destroy ‘everything in house’ while left alone for 7 days
An anxious dog shredded his owner's sofa after being left alone for more than a week while they were in quarantine, as seen in pet cam footage.
In the clip, filmed at an apartment in China, the dog is eating the sofa, taking objects and clothes out of a wardrobe, and even throwing things onto the floor.
Tragically, the poor pooch sat by the door for the whole of the first day waiting for his owner to return while the city of Xi'an was in lockdown.
By the second day, the dog was very stressed and started ripping apart the home.
The dog's owner shared the footage on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of the video-sharing app TikTok.
She said: "Every single day, it was tearing up the house. Every single day it was destroying a new item.
"Almost everything in the house is broken now."
Seeming to look past the destruction, the dog's owner added: "At least my dog is still healthy.
"It hasn't eaten anything that bad. In seven days, we can return home, and things will get better.
"The house may be trashed, but we can clean it up, and it'll be okay."
In a similar tale, a woman in quarantine for 21 days came home to find her garden completely full of dog poo.
She also left food for her pooch before being made to isolate away from home and said she cried "tears of joy" upon returning and finding her dog was alive and well.
Many people in China came home to dead pets if they did not provide them with enough food and water before going to quarantine.
This comes after authorities in Hong Kong said 2,000 hamsters would be euthanised after an outbreak of the Delta variant of Covid was linked to a pet shop.
