Queen’s face lights up with pride at mention of Prince William in special moment

The Queen flashed a smile and looked proud when she heard her grandson Prince William being praised for sticking to his guns over the environment.

Her Majesty was visiting Cardiff on Thursday (October 14) and the sweet moment was caught on video.

In the clip, the royal is chatting about the upcoming Cop26 Summit which she will be attending in Glasgow before the conversation moved onto her grandson.

Senedd presiding officer Elin Jones praised her Prince William for his own efforts to raise awareness about climate change.

Talking about climate change hypocrisy, The Queen appears to say: "It's really irritating when they talk, but they don't do."

Ms Jones says: "Exactly it's a time for doing… and watching your grandson on the television this morning saying there's no point going to space, we need to save the earth."

At this, the Queen smiles with what looks like genuine pride.

"Yes, I read about it," she says.

Prince William was criticised for his eco stance by Star Trek actor William Shatner who journeyed to space on an 11-minute Blue Origin flight, the brainchild of Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos.

Although William didn't mention any names when he hit out at billionaires building rockets instead of helping the planet, his comments came as 90-year-old Shatner became the oldest person to travel to space.

The Queen will attend the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, with Prince Charles and Prince William at the end of this month.

World leaders and climate activists, including the famous activist teen Greta Thunberg, US President Joe Biden, and Canada's prime minister Justin Trudeau, are expected to be at the event which is being held between October 31 and November 12.
