Sergey Kartashov (Sergejs Kartasovs): Ukraine has all potential to succeed in AI and ML
The breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) has changed the world completely, especially in the business area. More effective AI solutions appear and become handy in accomplishing business deals in any academic community. Sergey Kartashov (Sergejs Kartasovs), a partner of the Roosh technology company in Ukraine, reported the present impact of AI and ML on human life and the future of this area in Ukraine.
Global AI implementation
Promising statistical data confirm the prosperity and fast-growing development of ML in the world. In 2014, it became the most applicable educational course at Stanford University. The number of attendees—more than 760 people—ensured the great interest and prosperous changes AI drove the world. Last year, the university reported the capital investment in AI, which increased by 40% over the year (to 67.9 billion dollars). Also, the most-funded fields like educational applications, the pharmaceutical industry, and pilotless vehicles were mentioned.
Sergey Kartashov concludes the information mentioned above by stating that AI and ML have penetrated almost every IT area and mostly those that require big data processing and sophisticated algorithms to operate. If one looks around, every aspect of human life has IT methods involved: grammar checking in printed texts, translation tools, voice commands on phones, automatic face recognition on social media, and many others.
An IT asset management specialist also gives examples of IT giants like Amazon, Google, and Netflix to show that they implement unique high-tech algorithms to improve their interactions with their consumers. The use of state-of-the-art IT solutions is delivering new industries to work out and promote. For example, they help develop neural networks that teach users to draw, edit photos and videos, write poetry, etc.
In addition, Sergey Kartashov adds that owing to AI algorithms, China managed to monitor the implementation of quarantine restrictions by the population during a lockdown. Thus, the future of dynamic IT development is obvious and already here. However, when it comes to its implementation in Ukraine, he underlines that the Ukrainian sector was likely to be behind the process for some time.
AI solutions and Ukraine
The starting point of AI implementation in Ukraine takes place in 2012 when AI Clubs in Kharkiv and Kyiv were established. Since then, companies have enriched the Ukrainian business area by producing their services and products on AI technologies, comments Sergey Kartashov.
Roosh’s partner mentions a globally recognized service like Grammarly that allows users to check their texts for spelling errors and plagiarism. This product is frequently used in Ukraine and beyond and applies Natural Language Processing technology based on ML and linguistics.
Another AI product tailored in Ukraine is Scorto involving managing decisions and risks, scoring systems for banks and insurance agencies. Kartashov notices that this product was created in one of the Kharkiv-based companies. Moreover, Ukraine has been an excellent place to conduct various festivals and competitions in robotics and is home to AI communities like Boteon, the Association of Robotics, and others.
Roosh is also one of the Ukrainian companies that provide ML and AI projects, Sergey Kartashov notes. Among them is the Reface mobile app, due to which users can swap faces on videos and gifs. It is one of the powerful Roosh’s projects that took the top rank in the App store leading Netflix, Amazon, and TikTok.
Therefore, every effort Ukrainian IT companies accomplish by tailoring unique products and services demonstrates all the potential of the country to evolve the IT segment by developing AI and ML.
