Song Yoo-jung dead – South Korean actress dies aged 26 as heartbroken fans pay tribute
FANS of South Korean actor Song Yoo-jung have paid tribute to the 26-year-old star who died suddenly over the weekend.
The star of MBC series Make a Wish died on Saturday, although the cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
News of her death was confirmed by her representatives, the Sublime Artist Agency, reports the South China Morning Post.
Song began her career as a cosmetics brand model before acting.
After her debut in Golden Rainbow in 2013, Song won a role in another MBC series, Make Your Wish as Han Da Won.
Song Yoo-jung went on to star in School 2017, the seventh installment of the long-running School franchise on KBS2.
The series was a coming-of-age drama set at Geumdo High School, and Song starred alongside Ra Eun-ho in the popular show.
As well as television roles, Song has also appeared in music videos, including Standing Egg’s Friend to Lover and NIve’s How Do I.
Singer NIve posted a tribute from his Instagram page, writing alongside a picture of a black square: "Yoo, I hope you don’t get sick anymore… thank you for being with me.
"I’m sorry I couldn’t share your pain… I hope that you will be comfortable and happy in the sky."
Other actors represented by Song’s agency include Parasite star Song Kang-ho, and singer Jung Ji-hoon (aka Rain).
A funeral procession is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 25.
Song’s death comes after a spate of early deaths in South Korea’s high-pressure culture industry, including K-pop stars Sulli and Goo Hara.
