Suspect caught on video sifting through jewelry during Bronx home invasion
A burglar was caught on video sifting through jewelry at a Bronx home before taking off with the pricey items this week.
The suspect went up the fire escape to the fourth floor of a residential building at Leland Avenue and Guerlain Street in Van Nest around 6:20 p.m. Monday, disabled a window guard and entered an apartment through the kitchen, cops said.
Video released Thursday morning shows him handling various pieces of jewelry inside a room with a bed and a child’s play area.
He stole $5,500 in cash and $7,300 worth of jewelry before leaving through the kitchen window.
Police describe the suspect, who is still on the loose, as around 150 pounds and 5-foot-6 with a medium build.
He was last seen wearing a black reflective jacket with the word “Spectrum” printed on the front, blue pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and red sneakers.
