Teaching assistant warned she could be sacked unless she deletes OnlyFans page

A teaching assistant has been warned she could lose her job due to her OnlyFans account.

Coquitlam school district in British Columbia, Canada, has informed Kristin MacDonald she is in violation of an article in its collective agreement and could be dismissed.

The 35-year-old Port Coquitlam resident runs an OnlyFans account under the name Ava James and has claimed that she uses it to supplement her income to support herself and her child.

The single mum, who is currently recovering from back surgery, received a notification about a complaint on April 28 and has been locked in a battle with the school district ever since.

The email read: “You’re directed to immediately cease all activity and to remove all online social media accounts including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and OnlyFans.

“Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.”

Speaking to Global News, she said: “My reaction when I received the letter, obviously, this is a controversial topic.

“I took precautions in order to keep all my fans and my education job separate.”

Kristin has chosen to go public with the story – and has kept her account going – something she knows is a risk.

She added: “I do believe that I should be able to continue on.

“I’m not hurting anyone. I’m not breaking the law. So I stand by where I’m at right now.”

The school district said in a statement: “As a matter of course, the district will not provide information regarding any individual.”

She says her union, CUPE561 has been very supportive, as have some colleagues and she feels that, given OnlyFans is consent-based, she’s not doing anything wrong.

“I really want to talk about the stigma… and let’s have more conversations about women owning their sexuality, being proud of their body,” she said.

“How many women can say that?

“I think so many of us are insecure and feel shame when we express sexuality and we’re shamed by society.

“And that’s really what I want to speak on and be an advocate for that.”

Adding that she said she was struggling to live on her teaching salary alone, she said: “We don’t make a livable wage, and we’re in one of the most expensive places in Canada.

“I do love my job. I love connecting with students. I think I’m good at my job.”
