This is the chilling moment a rapist tricked a woman into a car and kidnapped her to his home where he raped her twice.

Yuseab Woldeab, of Wilton Street, Millbridge, claimed to be a taxi driver when he approached the victim and offered to drop her off after a night out in Plymouth last year.

But after the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, passed out in the car before he took her to his house and raped her.

CCTV footage of the staged pick-up was released by police today as a jury found the 28-year-old guilty of two counts of rape and one count of kidnap.

He was jailed for 18 months.

During the trial, DS Chris Kinski of the Sexual Offences Investigation Team played the street surveillance video of what he called a "truly horrendous and disturbing crime".

The clip starts as the predator drives around Plymouth city centre in a white car before he spots the victim at Union Street at around 4am on April 25.

He slows down and hits the brakes of the vehicle and proceeds a U-turn further down the road.

Later, he returns to the location and pulls up next to the victim, who is walking towards Devonport.

The woman approaches and talks to him through the window.

"They had a short conversation and the defendant said he is a taxi driver," officer Kinski explained.

"The victim gets in the vehicle, and before the door is even shut, the vehicle makes off at speed, towards the Devonport area."

Plymouth Crown Court heard Woldeab then drove the victim to his home address in Wilton Street where he proceeded to rape her.

The victim fled the house when Woldeab left his bedroom. She ran back home and contacted the police for help.

Rebecca Sutherland, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS South West, said: "This was a shocking case in which the defendant deliberately targeted and abducted a lone, vulnerable young woman before subjecting her to an appalling attack.

"We want every victim to have the confidence that their case will be fully investigated by the police and that, in every case where our legal tests are met, the Crown Prosecution Service will charge and prosecute."
