Two children have been airlifted to hospital after they were thrown from a funfair ride in the UK.

Police and emergency services were called to Hook Fair in Epsom, Surrey yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after, officers closed the ride and cordoned off the area while they launched an investigation.

Members of the public took to social media to post images from the scene – including the air ambulance arriving on Hook Road Arean.

Surrey Police confirmed that two children had been admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries.

According to SurreyLive, the incident is believed to have taken place on the Frogitt ride – a ride which spins and bounces up and down.

One eyewitness claims they saw a metal bar raise up on the ride while it was moving.

Another described seeing a girl's leg hanging out of the ride, leading him to rush over the operator's booth to urge them to stop.

The force has now launched an appeal and is asking anyone with information to get in touch as soon as they can.

A spokesperson for the force said: "On Monday, 3 April just before 7.15 pm, Surrey Police were called to a fairground at Hook Road Arena in Epsom following reports that a person had fallen from one of the rides.

"South East Coast Ambulance also attended, and a 16-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy were both taken to hospital for medical attention. Both have since been discharged with minor injuries.

"The ‘Crazy Frog’ ride remains closed at this time until safety checks have been completed. The funfair itself remains open.
