UK Weather: Parts of country braced for snow on Valentines Day with -3C temps
It won't just be love in the air on Valentine's Day – it's looking as if it'll be snowflakes, too.
Snow is forecast to hit several parts of the country on the big V day, with temperatures plummeting to -3C in some areas of the UK.
The freezing temperatures will come after rain and high-force winds hitting the majority of the country on Sunday, The Mirror reports.
It's predicted that Northern England and Scotland will be the places worst affected, with weather forecasters expecting snow to fall on Monday morning.
Temperatures will hover around the 7C and 8C mark in other areas – but the 50mph winds will make it feel much colder, according to The Met Office.
Forecasters say an active jet stream will drive a series of low-pressure systems across the country over the weekend, causing the miserable weather.
The first of these systems are predicted to have crossed to the north of Scotland today (Saturday, February 12), bringing wet and windy weather in from the north and west.
England, Wales, and southern Scotland was predicted to have experienced outbreaks of rain, while the southeast was supposed to have stayed mostly dry with some sunshine.

However, strong gusts of wind and heavy rainfall could arrive by tonight.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Steve Ramsdale, said: “A new area of low-pressure, this time moving across England and Wales, arrives on Saturday night then slowly clears to the east on Sunday.
"This brings wet and windy weather to the country, particularly Wales, and we have issued a Yellow National Severe Weather Warning for rain for this.
“As the system pulls away from the UK there will be another short lived, colder and more settled spell Monday night with one or two wintry showers possible over high ground in Scotland and perhaps a frost elsewhere.”

The yellow weather warning for rain is in place for parts of Wales from 12am to 6pm on Sunday.
On Monday, some forecasters predict temperatures will plunge to -3C in Scotland overnight, rising to 4C during the day.
In England, Brits will endure highs of 7C in Newcastle, 8C in Liverpool, 8C in Leeds and 9C in London.
Earlier, Met Office senior operational meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth told the Express : "Over the weekend the jetstream will lie across the UK with wind strengths of 115mph.
"Two low pressures over the weekend and a third mid-week next week.

"We will see one large low-pressure move to the north of the UK tonight, dragging rain bearing fronts across the UK, particularly western areas on Saturday.
"A second smaller low pressure will move north eastwards from southern to north east England through Sunday day and night.
"This will bring more heavy rain for much of England and Wales.
"Western areas are expected to see the highest rainfall totals with some spots of Wales seeing around 100mm over the course of the weekend.

"This has led to a yellow rain warning being issued for central areas of Wales.
"Somewhat cooler and drier early next week but a further low pressure on Wednesday could bring more widespread disruptive strong winds and heavy rain across the UK."
The Met Office predicts more unsettled weather for many at the start of next week, with rain and showers crossing the country on Tuesday, before the arrival of another deep low-pressure system on Wednesday.
