Ms Rudik said reports have been emerging from recently-liberated areas of Russian soldiers using torture rooms against Ukrainian civilians. The Ukrainian MP said that mass graves had been found and that several women had reported being raped or sexually abused by Russian forces. Ms Rudik told Julia Hartley-Brewer that recent findings match with evidence unveiled in other areas liberated earlier in the year such as Bucha. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that there is evidence of up to 430 war crimes having been committed in Kherson.

Ms Rudik told Talk TV: “In the ninth month of the war we already know what our soldiers will find after the liberation of Kherson territory.

“It’s three things, first it’s usually a mass grave and the second is the torture rooms, and the third is many raped women.

“And this is what we’re finding in Kherson as well, and it is not something that just happened once in Bucha, once in Izyum this is systematic.

“This is a war crime that is being committed everywhere in the occupied territories.”

Ms Rudik added: “And so when someone says ‘ok maybe we should freeze the conflict and have the negotiations.’

“I want these people to look at the torture rooms.

“Because right now, when we are talking with you on occupied territories, there are some people in torture rooms, being tortured.

“And there is no way to stop this except for liberating these territories and returning them to Ukraine and making sure we can protect our people.”

Since Russia announced its retreat nearly two weeks ago, dozens of bodies have been found in mass graves in Kherson, with some of the remains carrying evident signs of torture.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to get justice as he pledged: “We will find and bring to justice every murderer. Without a doubt.”

And survivors from the regions have been sharing their harrowing experiences to raise awareness about the treatment they were subjected to during the Russian occupation.

“If you get inside the prison and see what they have written on the walls you will see how much they hated us.”

He added: “They were tortured severely. They were electrocuted. They were suffocating people in water. They cut people.

“They were doing things that I can’t imagine how any human being could do. We were praying that Ukraine would return to Kherson as soon as possible.

Valery began to breakdown down and added: “Please forgive me. This is hard for me. It’s difficult, very difficult. Please forgive me.”
