Vegan unwittingly eats meat for first time in FIVE YEARS after Zizzi deliver WRONG food to him via Deliveroo
A VEGAN ate meat for the first time in FIVE YEARS because he was accidentally served a beef pasta dish when Zizzi delivered the wrong food to him.
James Smith tried out the vegan menu at the Italian restaurant chain and chose pasta, pizza and some potatoes – but it went horribly wrong.
The 28-year-old, from Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, used the delivery service Deliveroo to order the gluten-free vegan lentil ragu, fried herby potatoes and a vegan pizza to share with his girlfriend on Sunday evening.
After tucking into the takeaway James, who has been not eaten meat for five years, immediately knew something was wrong.
Instead of vegan-friendly lentils, James says he ate pulled beef.
He told the Manchester Evening News he called the Piccadilly Gardens branch and was told the restaurant had given the wrong order to the Deliveroo driver.
After the restaurant agreed to refund the pasta James then asked for a full refund for his meal.

The sales account manager told the MEN: "I just took a mouthful or two. I could smell the beef and taste it. I have been vegan for five years, and my girlfriend as well for a few years.
“It upset us so much. We are quite chilled vegans. If it was egg you would ignore that, but with it being meat it is quite bad."
He now wants to warn other vegans or people with food intolerances to make sure their meal is what they have ordered before they start eating.
A spokesman for Zizzi said the issue occurred due to human error in the kitchen and confirmed James was compensated for his meal, and another apology offered.
They added: "We take these breaches extremely seriously and I have personally followed up with the restaurant team and the operations director to reinforce the need for accurate checking of all dishes that have dietary and allergen implications before they reach customers."

And we tried the 100 per cent plant-based patty which claims to have the taste and texture of real beef — it even sizzles and “bleeds” like the real thing.
