Virgin Media customers faced outages across the UK, with problems persisting for over three hours on Tuesday, 4 April.
Of users who reported issues, 74 per cent said they were struggling with landline internet, while 24 per cent were experiencing a total blackout.
Meanwhile, two per cent of Virgin Media users said they were struggling with TV streaming.

Virgin Media has provided a comment via Twitter, saying: ‘We’re aware of an issue that is affecting broadband services for Virgin Media customers as well as our contact centres.’
Why is Virgin Media down?
The exact reason for the outages were unknown. However, Virgin Media tweeted to say their teams are ‘working to identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible’.
Outages have been reported across Britain, with people complaining of problems in big cities such as London, Cardiff and Birmingham.
The Virgin Media Service Status checker site is also down, and directs the visitor to a holding page saying ‘We’re doing some work on our site’.
In 2022, Virgin Media users suffered an hour-long outage that left customers in Reading with internet access.
A major power outage in 2021 left users unable to access the operator’s TV service for more than ten hours.
When will Virgin Media be back up?
A Virgin Media spokesperson said: ‘We’ve restored broadband services for customers but are closely monitoring the situation as our engineers continue to investigate. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
Internet speed tracking website DownDetector recorded a peak in outage reports by Virgin Media customers at 08:00 GMT.
Depending upon the scale of the issue, and the number of users affected, it could take several hours to fix.
People across the country complained of experiencing problems, with hot spots in big cities such as London, Cardiff and Birmingham
How to get internet if Virgin Media is down?
Depending upon the length of the Virgin Media outage, you may be entitled to compensation.
Internet access may still be possible for those affected by the Virgin Media outage. Users can attempt to connect to a mobile hotspot or find a public Wi-Fi network.
In addition, customers could ask a friend or neighbour if they can share internet access whilst Virgin Media is down.
Will Virgin Media reduce my bill?
If customers are unhappy with their broadband service, they can contact their broadband provider to discuss cancelling their contract or moving to another provider.
Given that the issue is being investigated by Virgin Media, customers should wait to see if it is fixed before proceeding with any compensation enquiries.
