I ditched my job as a social worker and now make 1k a week from my side hustle – it's changed my life | The Sun

A SOCIAL worker who quit her day job now rakes in a whopping £1,000 a week with her new side hustle.

Michaela Ogilvie, from Ramsgate, felt depressed turning up to work everyday before she took a leap of faith and made the shocking career change.

The 32-year-old found herself in a disagreement with her old manager, and as she travelled home, an ambulance crashed into the side of her car.

Then, one of her clients passed away in a care home, after confiding in the social worker that she wished to be in her own bed.

Michaela decided this was a turning point in her life, and feeling unfulfilled in the role, set up an OnlyFans account.

She told KentOnline: "You have a lot of responsibility as a social worker so it’s not a job you can do half-heartedly.

"I wasn't happy – I was really depressed going to work.

"I enjoy it so much more than social work – it's so freeing."

Michaela said has never been happier since finding a new found sense of control in this new career.

Since making the switch, the content creator has amassed nearly 20,000 followers on TikTok and 30,000 on Instagram.

And, in the past month, the cam-girl is already ranked in the top two per cent of creators on OnlyFans.

But, Michaela did admit there are some down sides to maintaining a career in the adult entertainment industry.

"Sometimes you get in your head and feel a bit cheap,” she said.

"Sometimes I worry what people think of me.

"Men ask me to do things with them in person, and people think I'm a s*** – but I'm actually celibate."

The 32-year-old explained her content had been leaked onto other social media platforms in the past – but she isn't letting this stop her.

NEW BEGINNINGS

For Michaela, her increased sense of independence and financial stability feels that much sweeter after a tough past.

The road to get where she is today has not been easy for the cam-girl.

She spoke about growing up in Scarborough with dreams of becoming rich, while living in care at the age of 13.

Michaela described being passed around from one temporary accommodation to another, until finding a flat when she was 16.

But things took a dark turn soon after, and she said: "I got a flat when I was 16, but some drug dealers used me because I was vulnerable, giving me drugs and getting me drunk then using my flat as a base.

"I didn’t come back to normal after that, and I gave my keys in at the flat and made myself homeless.

"Now my advice is, think about your wildest dreams that make you excited to be alive.

"Achieve those dreams and just go and smash those goals."

Her top tip for success in this sector is to let go of self-consciousness and not to care what others think.

"If I can go from being in care and homeless to being a social worker and then in the top 2% of OnlyFans, why can you not achieve whatever it is that sets your souls on fire and gives you energy for life?" She added.

This comes as many people across the globe hand in their notice to kickstart a career in the adult entertainment industry.

Including a barista who quit her job at Costa to go full-time on OnlyFans who claims to have made £500,000 by posting racy snaps online.

Sophie Carpenter, 24, made £4,000 in her first day on the content-sharing platform – and now apparently lives a life of luxury with posh cars and regular plush holidays.

Elsewhere in the world, an Iranian-American model revealed why she quit her “dream job” as a lawyer to join OnlyFans.

Jazmen Jafar’s background couldn’t be more different to her saucy career, which has given her a major salary of £46,000 each month.

And, in Perth, Australia a mum-of-two has told how she quit her job for OnlyFans and now makes up to £60,000 a month.

Lucy Banks, 31, rakes in the cash by fulfilling her subscribers' saucy fantasies – like oiling herself up in her kitchen while her kids sleep.
