People are only just realising King Charles owns every single dolphin in the UK
Charles III is apparently the owner of every single dolphin in the UK.
People were bemused by the revelation that the King of England was also the country's dolphin overseer, thanks to a strange statute dating back hundreds of years.
Previous dolphin owner Queen Elizabeth II also found herself in charge of all the swans in the land, and it would appear King Charles III has taken over those responsibilities.

Dolphin herder Charles is now the technical owner of all dolphins in the UK, and the 1324 statute may also give him whales in British waters also.
A royal fish statute means whales, dolphins and even sturgeon are of the King's royal prerogative, meaning he owns all in British waters should he wish to use them.
What exactly King Charles will do with a battalion of dolphins is currently unclear, but it seems some are shocked to hear he owns them all.
The King inherited the unspecified number of dolphins and whales as well as 32,000 swans when the late Queen passed on September 8, 2022.
The King was put in charge of the nation's dolphins as stipulated in the will of mum Queen Elizabeth, Insider reported.

Although there are no major events in the UK surrounding the mystery number of dolphins, there are more than a handful of official events celebrating the swans.
One particular event is the Swan Upping, an annual event the sitting monarch is meant to oversea at the River Thames.
The event sees the birds weighed, measured and assessed for their health, a task which is often conducted by the official Royal Family's Swan Marker David Barber.
The last attendance of the Queen at a Swan Upping was in 2009, and King Charles is yet to personally visit his gaggle of birds.
