Capital Index Onboards FX Veteran Darren Spicer as Sales Director

Multi-regulated brokerage firm Capital Index has selected Darren Spicer to take on the role of its Sales Director, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.

Having kicked off his financial career back in 1994, Mr. Darren’s background in related marketing positions includes most recently working as a senior sales executive at LMAX Group. He spent more than two years in this post with the FCA-regulated firm that also operates institutional venues for FX and cryptocurrency trading.

Spicer spent the bulk of his career at J P Morgan Securities where he held several roles during a decade-long tenure. He joined the firm as a fixed income execution trader in 1996 and left in 2005 to join Sydney-based broker Brokerone PTY Ltd/MF Global as a settlements and clearing supervisor.

Spicer has originally started his journey into the retail FX industry in 2009 when he joined the Australian business of UK CFDs broker City Index as a senior sales trader. He parted ways with the spread better brand of Gain Capital, now part of StoneX Group, to lead the sales team at AxiTrader during the start-up phase of the retail FX broker.

Other stops in Spicer’s career includes working as head of sales and trading at Vanatge FX. He also held an analogous position at Synergy FX Funds Management, a post that took his career between 2013 and 2015.

Before joining LMAX Group in his most recent position, he spent two years as director of UK sales at Al Rayan Bank, which offers Sharia compliant banking products.

Capital Index has been expanding its team with top industry talents who have previously held similar roles with leading brokers. The addition comes at a time when the company has been looking to continue its international expansion.

Capital Index was founded in 2014 by Robert Woolfe, who previously established and led the FX business of ETX Capital and the same year it was granted the CIF license by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). However, the company renounced its Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) License in 2018.

In 2015, Capital Index opened a London branch office and became authorized and regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
