The Prime Minister is facing pressure to resign following the multiple partygate scandals flooding Downing Street. Mr Johnson’s popularity has plummeted with Labour taking over the Conservative Party for the first time.

Now, he is facing new criticism after saying he wants to complete the unfinished work of Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair in modernising the Government and making it leaner.

One Express.co.uk reader, known as 5ecila, said: “He’d say anything and promise you the moon to save his skin.

“The very mention of Blair as a role model for his ‘reforms’ is enough to make the blood run cold.

“What about the constant breaching of our borders, not only breaking our laws but threatening our security and costing us millions every day, not just the £4.7 million daily but onwards with schooling, health, pensions, benefits? Words, words, words…”

A second reader, Babyboomer, commented: “More to the point, why was a Conservative PM allowed by his cabinet to even introduce leftie policies and hold the country to ransom with his green agenda?”

With Highlander41 adding: “You have lost the loyal Tory voters Boris and the Pensioners you are too late.”

Lauren.F02 wrote: “Come on Boris son it’s time to hang up your hat and let somebody more competent and honest take the reigns.

“I know it’s hard for you to accept but accepting is half the battle and people will think better of you for it.”

Another reader, Cabron, added: “What is a so-called Conservative Party doing with “Lefty Policies” on its agenda in the first place?

“That’s what was making it difficult for voters to identify the Conservatives because it had drifted far too much in that direction.

“If there are MP’s who want ‘Lefty’ they should join Labour.”

However, others backed the Prime Minister’s plans to get rid of “lefty” policies including prioritising a green agenda.

“This will be very welcome news to the UK public.

“We all support Boris & this is the way to concrete further support.”

Arnier56788 commented: “Great news.

“Get rid of the lefty bias, the wokes, and all this green nonsense.”

It is understood the Prime Minister is considering preparing major speech in the next fortnight to lay out his new post-pandemic vision.

The three points agreed between the Prime Minister and Tory backbenchers include a clearout of staff from Downing Street and listening “to the right people” who will be brought in as replacements.

This began last week with five key members of staff resigning including director of communications Jack Doyle, chief of staff Dan Rosenfield and principal private secretary Martin Reynolds, all three of whom “jumped before they were pushed” according to one insider.

He also his party that he is “a sound Conservative at heart” who is “in tune with the values of the wider electorate” and has been “diverted off course by the wrong kind of advisers”.

Furthermore, he agreed to replace “lefty” policies, including prioritising a green agenda and ‘nanny state’ rules, with ones which will promote a “stronger union of the United Kingdom, the economic recovery post-pandemic, and making people richer”.
