Nicola Sturgeon finally passes driving test, and everyone’s making the same joke
Nicola Sturgeon told ‘that is a witness box, not a soap box’
Nicola Sturgeon has revealed she has finally passed her driving test, in a move that will offer her “a bit of personal freedom”.
The 53-year-old former First Minister of Scotland claimed it’s “never too late in life to do something new”.
She revealed she passed on her first attempt, though did not disclose the number of minors she received.
Ms Sturgeon paid tribute to instructor Andy MacFarlane, whom she was spotted with in a blue Hyundai on a driving lesson earlier this year.
She described Mr MacFarlane as a “brilliant instructor” and “really important to me”.

In an Instagram post, the former SNP leader said the “whole experience has taken me well out of any notion of a comfort zone, but hopefully proves that it’s never too late in life to do something new”.
The news is a rare moment of levity for Ms Sturgeon, who decided to take up lessons while subject to a police investigation into SNP finances.
Her happy announcement was greeted with the same joke by social media users, many of whom had similar gags.
One Twitter user asked: “Camper van holiday?”
Another joked: “Someone’s gotta drive the motorhome”.
A third gagged: “She probably had lots of experience in camper vans so far easier in the car”.

All were referencing the Scottish police’s seizing of a luxury motorhome amid the probe into SNP finances.
A £110,000 campervan was taken from outside the home of Nicola Sturgeon’s mother-in-law, where it had been sitting for two years.
SNP insiders claimed the motorhome was supposed to function as a campaign battle bus in the run up to the 2021 Holyrood election, however the vehicle was never insured.
It was seized from Ms Sturgeon’s mother-in-law’s driveway the same day her husband and ex-SNP chief executive Peter Murrell was arrested.
Other Twitter users had more supportive responses to the ex-First Minister’s achievement, with one person commenting: “As someone learning to drive, I never thought Nicola Sturgeon would be my muse”.
Another added: “Guys there’s still hope for me to pass one day”.
A third joked: “She makes me feel good about my inability to drive”.
A friend of Ms Sturgeon’s previously told a podcast that she didn’t need driving lessons when being “chauffeur-driven about as the First Minister”.
“She said to me many years ago she didn’t want to sit her driving test in case she failed, because up until that point in her life she had never failed an exam.”
