Nigel Farage warns of major betrayal over ‘heart of Brexit revolt’
Nigel Farage reacts to record net migration figures
Nigel Farage warned the issue of immigration was “at the heart of the Brexit revolt against the establishment”.
The former Ukip and Brexit Party leader reacted with fury to record high legal migration figures released while he was taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
Mr Farage told GB News: “What makes me so angry is at the heart of the Brexit revolt against the establishment, the desire to take back control of our destiny and our future, was this whole issue of taking back control of our borders.
“You look back at what Boris Johnson was telling the country in 2019, about borders and control, and you realise, if you read between the lines, they never intended to do anything about it.
“I think that people who are conservatively minded have just had enough of being lied to.”

Mr Farage added that he believes “big change is coming” to British politics.
He said: “We might as well just have a complete total open door and that happening in a country when 17.4 million people dared to stand up to defy the establishment, to demand change, they haven’t got any change.
“And the truth is that a Labour Government will make little no difference to that.
“So we really are at a moment where the London-based political class, much of the media that supports it, is now farther away from the centre ground of public opinion in Britain than I think I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
“Anyone that dares to stand up and make these arguments gets shouted down, gets abused on social media but it’s not working anymore.
“The scales have fallen from the eyes of the British public, they’re seeing the political class for what they are.
“We are set for some very tumultuous years in British politics and despite our first past the post system, making big change difficult, I think big change is coming.”
It comes after revised estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) last month showed net migration to the UK reached a record 745,000 in 2022.
Mr Farage, who came third in the final of the ITV reality show, has refused to rule out returning to the Conservative Party and running to be an MP if Rishi Sunak is replaced.
