- Arrested in December on human trafficking, rape and organised crime charges
An ex-girlfriend of misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate has revealed that he strangled her to the point of passing out during ‘rough sex’.
The British woman said the controversial social media personality charmed her at first and encouraged her to work for his webcam business before becoming controlling and coercive, although she admits that all the choices she made were her own free will.
Tate, 36, and his brother Tristan, 34, were arrested in December on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group to exploit women.
It is alleged the pair entrapped victims by seducing them and pretending to pursue a relationship or marriage with them, dubbed ‘the lover-boy method’ by Romanian police.
They would then be made to work in their adult entertainment chat rooms, prosecutors alleged.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s File on 4 programme, the woman referred to as ‘Sophie’ (not her real name) accused Tate of slapping her and becoming violent during sex.
Sophie told the programme that the pair met through Facebook and at first he charmed her, with nothing to suggest he was not genuine.
After talking for a while online she arranged to visit him at his home in Bucharest and soon became his girlfriend.
But she said he begun to ask her about working for his webcam business, telling her she would ‘make a fortune’ if she did.
Despite saying no, Sophie said he would repeatedly say ‘if you love me, you would do it’ and this started to ‘chip away’ at her over time to think that ‘maybe he’s right’.
She said she felt coerced and worried that if she refused, she might lose hm.

‘There was some disagreement… he held me up against the wall and he slapped me really hard and followed it with “you whore”,’ she said.
She said he eventually became violent, enjoying rough sex, and would strangle her to the point where she once passed out.
She described him as ‘very manipulative’, adding: ‘ said: ‘He totally lacks any kind of empathy. He is a narcissist, he’s like that 100 per cent.’
‘I don’t think he’s emotionally capable of feeling love, for anyone or anything, even his family, even his brother – there’s just nothing.’
But she said: ‘It’s very difficult because I don’t feel like a victim – all of the choices I made were of my [own] free will.
‘He didn’t bundle me up into a bag, throw me in the back of a lorry and drive me there.’
Last week, Tate lost his appeal against a decision to keep him in jail for 30 days, meaning he will remain in custody until February 27.
A Romanian appeals court has upheld a to extend Tate’s and he will remain in custody until at least February 27.
He appeared at the Bucharest court with his brother and two of their alleged female accomplices in a bid to appeal against a judge’s decision to extend their arrest a second time for 30 days.
But all four lost their appeal and will be held for the full 30 days.
The BBC said they had put these allegations to Tate through his lawyer.
Mateea Petrescu, his communications manager, said they would not comment on the claims.
MailOnline has contacted Andrew Tate’s lawyers for further comment.
