‘Arch manipulator’ Diana would save Harry from ‘chaotic Megxit deal’ expert says
"Arch manipulator" Princess Diana would have saved Prince Harry from his "utterly chaotic" Megxit deal, an expert has claimed.
Royal biographer Tina Brown said that while Diana would most likely have supported her son's desire to quit the Royal Family, she would have advised him on how not to get a "horrible bad deal".
Diana, who died on August 31, 1997, would have turned 60 on July 1.
The milestone was marked by the unveiling of a statue commemorating her in Kensington Palace's Sunken Gardens by Harry and Prince William.
Her sons' relationship has been frosty since the younger brother leave the Royal Family in the highly publicised Megxit, which saw Harry and his wife Meghan Markle quit as working royals in a bid to become "financially independent".
But Tina told the Telegraph in their discussion 'Unveiling the Royals: The Life and Legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales' that Harry's mum would have advised him how difficult it is to "cut loose" from the Royal Family.
She said: "I think if you ask whether Megxit would have happened [if Diana had been around], not in the way it would have happened.
"Diana would have been thoroughly supportive of Harry's desire to get the heck out of there.
"She went off and hired an extremely shrewd lawyer who was outside the royal establishment who got her £17million which was more than anyone had ever gotten out of the Royal Family.
"Harry, on the other hand, sort of plunged out of this thing in a way that was utterly chaotic. In doing so he made himself a horrible bad deal which he is still trying to put to rights.
"I think Diana would have said: 'Woah, think about it, it's not as easy as you think to cut loose,' because she found cutting loose very challenging."
Meghan and Harry 'Find Freedom'
Harry and Meghan shocked the world when they announced they were quitting the Royal Family in January 2020 to forge their own path.
They have since founded their charitable Archewell Foundation and signed huge deals with streaming services Netflix and Spotify.
The couple have also been critical of the Royal Family in a number of interviews, including their tell-all bombshell chat with Oprah Winfrey.

Tina agreed with the Telegraph's Camilla Tominey that Diana is an "arch manipulator", and would have had her say on Harry leaving the royals.
She said: "She wasn't booksmart. But she could pick up the vibes of everybody in a room very quickly which frankly is a far more useful trait in life than book learning.
"She could read a room. This was a woman of genuine empathy who really wanted to make people feel better about themselves.
"I think she would have given him [Harry] a lot of advice about how to better achieve what he wanted to achieve.
"She felt the cold wind of when she was out of that royal circle. She no longer had the Palace machine, she no longer had that Palace protection.
“When you’re out of it, you’re on your own. She found it was very inhibiting."
