‘Ballsy’ King Charles ‘unwilling to placate Harry and Meghan’ says royal expert
King Charles is "largely unwilling to placate" Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a royal expert has claimed.
Despite hints of a thaw between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the rest of the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to California with a number of things left unsettled.
While King Charles has reportedly said that he had detected “tremendous flickers of hope” when the family met at the late Queen’s funeral, according to reports in the Australian media he is “largely unwilling” to cave in to the Sussexes’ demands to give their children royal titles.

Royal expert Daniela Elser says the 73-year-old monarch is playing “hardball” with this youngest son.
When he announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton were to be the new Prince and Princess of Wales, and confirmed his wife Camilla was now Queen Consort, he pointedly declined to make any changes to Harry and Meghan’s official status, while the pair have been relegated to the bottom of the Royal Family's website.
According to The Times, “Harry and his father had a ‘brief discussion" in the days after the Queen’s death, when the King asked if [a royal title] was something Harry wanted for his children”.
The article continued: “Harry is understood to have expressed his desire to let his children decide when they are older, and to have emphasised that would only be possible if they were allowed to retain their titles now."

That conversation was reportedly left “unresolved,” leaving Harry and Meghan disappointed.
Ms Elser sees that as a show of strength from the new king.
She said: “Refusing to budge on mollifying his son and daughter-in-law is a ballsy move from Charles, what with the couple gearing up to unleash their assault on the entertainment world.
"The king seems largely unwilling to try and placate the fractious duo by giving them the titles they would seem to want (and it could be argued, need)."
With Meghan’s podcast re-starting after the end of official mourning for the late Queen, and Harry’s book – reportedly with significant revisions – soon to hit the shelves there are ample opportunities for the Sussexes to “speak their truth”.
But the changes on the official royal family website, shunting the Duke of Sussex down to the bottom of the list below Princess Alexandra, who is 56th in line to the throne, is a sign that King Charles is unlikely to make any compromises as he shapes his new “slimmed-down” royal order.
