Beatrice and Eugenie ‘healing rifts’ with Harry and Meghan for Queen’s sake

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are said to be 'quietly healing rifts' between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the sisters' "good relations" with the Sussexes would be "beneficial to the Monarchy", and hoped the "healing of rifts" would be done "quietly" by the pair in what he described as a relief to the Firm.

He told Express.co.uk : "I suspect the York sisters’ good relations with Harry and Meghan are very beneficial to the monarchy.

"It is perhaps a relief that we don’t know any details, but the healing of rifts is best done quietly."

It is thought Princess Eugenie shares a close bond with her cousin Harry and his wife after she visited him in California last year, with the pair even having attended the Super Bowl together.

Harry was later spotted joking with the sisters at a service at St Paul’s Cathedral during the Platinum Jubilee back in June.

Mr Fitzwilliams has in the past praised Eugenie’s efforts to mediate the arrival of Harry and Meghan for the Jubilee celebrations, admiring how she was able to use her closeness to make the reunion happen more smoothly.

He said: "A tremendous amount of work went on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

"Princess Eugenie, who gets on with them, very likely was involved in that."

The siblings' closeness with the couple, however, has not been without its controversy – particularly when royal fans read into the fact Eugenie had cropped favoured royal Kate from a photo taken during the Jubilee celebrations.

The now infamous image, posted to Instagram, showed a group shot of the working royals on Buckingham Palace’s famous balcony with Her Majesty flanked by Prince Charles, Prince William, and royal children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The edges of the image showed that the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cornwall were also there, but hadn't made it into the photo's square crop, enraging fans.

One user said: "Lovely photos but why would you cut out the next two Queens, Camilla and Catherine? Very petty my dear."

Another chimed in: "Why did you take Kate and Camilla out of the second picture?"

On Twitter, users had an even more adverse reaction, with one adding: "It’s the obvious cropping game for me. She left enough sleeve on both sides so you are left with no doubt."
