Biker speeds the WRONG WAY through heavy M25 traffic before smashing into cop who was airlifted to hospital
A BIKER who was caught speeding the WRONG way down the M25 smashed into a police officer who has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The cop was responding to reports of a stolen motorbike when he was hit on the clockwise carriageway near Junction 3 for Swanley at around 4pm.
He was rushed to a London hospital by air ambulance, Kent Police confirmed.
Horrified onlookers described the moment they saw a reckless motorcyclist heading straight towards them.
An 18-year-old man from Greenhithe, Kent, has been taken into custody on suspicion of theft.
It comes after a 26-year-old man was arrested in Dartford on suspicion of offences including dangerous driving and assault.
Driver Ben Smith, 54, spotted the bike speed down the carriageway the wrong way – as cops pursued him from the other side.
Ben, from Ipswich, said: "When the guy came past, he wasn’t wearing a crash-helmet.

"It looked very odd. He looked calm apart from the fact he was driving the wrong way down the M25.
"I hope the officer is going to be ok."
Tributes have flooded in for the injured cop – who remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The British Transport Police said: "Best wishes from all of us to the officer involved and his family, both at work and at home.
"Wishing you a quick and trouble free recover."
East Wickham Police Team added: "Thoughts with your officer and we wish him a speedy recovery.
"His colleagues attending the scene were top class. Well done."
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, which left the officer in hospital.

Both carriageways of the M25 were shut close to Junction 3 earlier today – but they have since been reopened.
