Boy, 6, found wandering the street wearing pyjamas at 3am holding car keys after 'walking out of his house'
A SIX-year-old boy was found wandering the street wearing only his pyjamas at 3am after he'd allegedly walked out of his house.
The child was carrying car keys and was found by a woman who said she felt "sick to the pit of her stomach" at what could have happened to him.
Nikola James was driving home from a friend's house when she discovered the youngster in Plymouth.
She said that she was a "believer that everything in life happens for a reason" as she discovered the boy after taking a different route home to the way she usually drives.
She said she immediately called the police who came and collected the little boy.
"The possibilities of what could have happened make me sick to the pit of my stomach," she added.
"An all too real-life experience of how easy it is for tragedy to happen,"she said.
Devon and Cornwall Police have said they were able to trace the boy's parents and took him to his nearby home where his parents were still unaware of his disappearance.
A police spokesperson added that it was believed the boy had been able to exit his address via the front door, but not before retrieving a set of car keys which he was found in possession of.
The spokesperson said: "The parents were in absolute shock when they were alerted to where the boy was found."
They added that it was understood the boy had previously been able to depart from his home without his parents' knowledge and as a precaution Social Services had also been informed of the incident.
