Brits flocking to sunny Spain are holding two fingers up to warnings of a deadly heatwave turning swathes of Europe into a furnace.

According to meteorologists, the south of the continent will experience record highs this week with temperatures consistently ranging from high 30s and low 40s. For some regions that means deadly wild fires tearing through communities.

But as long as there's a beach, pool and bar with air con what does it matter? That's the attitude currently being embraced by Brits on their travels.

"It's Spain, it's summer, it's supposed to be hot," holidaymaker Rose Carrington tells the Daily Star.

With weeks of dry warm weather in the UK little more than a recent memory for many across the country, the idea of jetting off to bask in a bit of sun is as tempting as ever.

Especially given, Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said Britain is not in line to be hit with the blistering heat on mainland Europe set to peak this week.

The idea of it being 'too hot' on holiday doesn't appear to exist for some who have told the Daily Star anything dry will be a welcome break.

"It's why we come in July for the heat if people don't like it hot don't come in July and August," Lynn Bryan replied.

Tracy Flint told us: "I'm going to Rome next week, can't wait. Heatwave or no heatwave!"

Ann Moulder is off to Benidorm on Wednesday after a soggy UK break. She said: "Going tomorrow.. can't wait to get away from rain and wind… been camping this weekend in Brean and weather was like a hurricane at times…sun sun n more sun please."

Ann explained what action she'll take should the temperature become as uncomfortable as forecasts threaten. She said: "Most probably swim a bit more or go under a parasol more often."

There is a definite sense of slap on the SPF and get on with it among hardy holidaymakers in response to any worries or whinging about the soaring mercury.

Rachel Elizabeth said: "Can’t complain rather be there than here is pissing down sick of it no summer in the UK again."

Equally unfazed, Rosco Coltrane offered some standard and less standard advice on how to cope.

He said: "If it was p*ssing down you would be asking when the sun was coming out! Apply sunscreen, wear a hat, drink plenty of water and put some Vaseline on your inner thighs to stop chub rub! Thank me later!"

However, Kevin King for one is feeling it: "Currently hiding in my air conditioned room soooo hot," he wrote on Facebook.

Valerie Cuthbert told us how she really struggled with the intense heat on her holiday. She told us: "I was there last week too hot and humid for me could hardly breath. I was knackered I still enjoyed it wanted to do the zoo but I could not have walked round it in that heat."

According to Siobhan Jeffrey, there are two just things Brits will need abroad. She said: "Once you can dip in pool or sea you will be fine, believe me its grand bearable you will have a great time once you've air conditioning"
