Bullied ‘angry’ teen who became bodybuilder now fulfilling dad’s dying dream

An “angry” bloke who got bullied at school and became a bodybuilder is now giving his all to fulfil the secret wishes of his dead father.

Iliya Tsikov, now 25, has been hitting the gym since he was 16 to overcome his bullies at school who mocked his small frame.

In the summer of 2022, Iliya shared a video on YouTube discussing the tragic passing of his musician father in 2021.

“The hospital called me to give me the bad news that he’s not going to make it,” he said.

After his father passed, Iliya was left with the task of sorting out his Dad’s things, where he made a surprising discovery.

He says his father had been stockpiling musical equipment, including instruments, in the hope of starting up his own music shop.

Iliya told his YouTube channel how he had found his Dad’s secret ambition on his laptop after he passed away, and now wanted to honour him by selling all the equipment for the best price he could and making his Dad’s music shop dream a reality.

“I would not want to get rid of it super cheap,” he said. “You know, at least try and sell it at some decent price.”

Iliya was born in Bulgaria but moved to the UK aged 12, but was the victim of schoolyard bullying because of his size.

But he hit the gym and hasn't looked back.

He’s now launched his own range of gym equipment, Zypher, in which he has released videos of himself working out.

Speaking previously to Bristol Live about his motivation to build muscle, he said: “Pain can sometimes affect you in the same way as motivation. It gives you a lot of strength and energy when you have so much pain.

"Back then I was so angry and felt so much pain that I wanted to change so badly that I just decided to change, I'd had enough.

"That's when I started working out and since the first time I worked out, I've never stopped."
