Prince Charles is “shocked to the core” by how quickly his relationship with his son Prince Harry has deteriorated, a royal expert has claimed.
Harry has reportedly been in a feud with the future monarch since he left royal duties in March 2020.
In an explosive interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey, the prince alleged that his father had stopped taking his phone calls.
And further controversy was supposedly caused with the release of ‘Finding Freedom’, an unauthorised biography that made a number of revelations about the Sussexes’ exit from the royal institution.
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have denied having any involvement with the book. However, Meghan was forced to apologise after it was revealed that she had known a former aide was in contact with the novel’s authors.
Now, speaking on his YouTube channel, Royal commentator Neil Sean has claimed that this revelation upset the future King.
“Apparently Prince Charles openly asked, ‘did anybody help with that book’, and allegedly, according to responses, he was told no-one assisted with the book,” Neil suggested.
“So you can imagine the bombshell that it was for his Royal Highness Prince Charles and Prince William that there was assistance with that particular book.”
Looking ahead, the reported tensions between the Prince of Wales and his son may be set to worsen with the release of Harry’s memoir due in late 2022.
Recently, a royal expert has speculated that Charles and other senior members of the Royal Family are “dreading” the book’s release because of the reputational damage it might cause to the institution.
“Moving forward, Prince Charles is a compassionate man, who truly does miss the company of his youngest son,” Neil continued.
“But he’s also very busy preparing his life, and when we say that, we mean his life as a ruling monarch, because that will come at one point and he has to be prepared.
“But Charles doesn’t necessarily look to the future, he truly lives in the moment. And the moment right now for Prince Charles is, he’s shocked to the core about how his relationship with his youngest son has deteriorated so quickly and so fast.”
The Daily Star has contacted Harry and Charles’ representatives for comment.
